From working in the hospital setting for the past few years technology has become very important in our daily work. The Ross memorial hospital along with most hospitals have their own website. We use our website to do such things as look up new job postings within the facility, access mandatory educational sessions and much more. On our intranet which is the internal website that can be accessed from any computer in the hospital, we can look up anything from policies and procedures to which doctor is on call. This becomes very useful for a quick reference when it is not specified anywhere on the floor who is the doctor on call it almost always updated on the intranet. Lately we have been using the intranet to access online education sessions which are interactive. This is a nice quick refresher on topics such as hand washing. Nurses can also access different resources such as seniority postings which are updated and posted every six months to know where you are on the list when applying for jobs within the hospital.
With accreditation coming up soon we have to be familiar with different policies and procedures and know how and where to access them. Websites are a great things, when visiting other hospital websites I enjoy reading their mission and vision statements and reading what the hospital is all about. You can tell a lot about facility when you look at their website.

Introducing me!
I would like to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Lindsey, I am 23 and am currently working as a Registered Practical Nurse. I work on the medical floor at the Ross Memorial Hospital. I have been working as a nurse for just over three years now, and I have tried different types of nursing and found the hospital is the place I enjoy the most. I just recently started the BScN program at UOIT and am finding it alot of work. I am hoping we can all get through these next few difficult years of school together by working with each other. At times life can get very stressful but we need to push each other to ensure we all finish this program. I am living in Lindsay at the present time where I have lived all my life. Stay tuned for further information and postings...
